Susan G Komen Race for the Cure          Susan G Komen Race for the Cure

To support the Race for the Cure Viv&Lou donated pink and white tote bags to Chapters in the Southeastern District

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Myrtle Beach, SC) It is estimated that in 2017 there will be over 252,710 newly diagnosed cases of invasive breast cancer. It is also estimated there will be 63,410 newly diagnosed cases of in situ breast cancer and 40,610 breast cancer-related deaths. In an effort to help women seek early screening to prevent and treat breast cancer, the Susan G. Komen foundation collects donations for education, research, screening, and treatment. Thanks to this program, more than three million people have beaten the odds.

In a move to support the efforts of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Viv&Lou donated 7,000 pink and white tote bags.

“We donated to Susan G. Komen Chapters located in the Southeastern District,” stated Viv&Lou representative Lauren Baker. “Our goal is to help support the organization's mission and address breast cancer on several fronts, including research, global outreach, community health and public policy.”

All of the donations made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation are used to help further research and increase fundraising to continue helping men and women who suffer or may develop breast cancer. In fact, 20 percent of all donations go to fundraising and administrative fees and 80 percent of the funds go to the mission of raising awareness of breast cancer and the benefits of early detection.

“As a nationally accredited woman-owned business, we are excited and proud to have an opportunity to help this organization,” continued Baker. “We understand the impact of breast cancer on individuals, families and entire communities and want to do our part to help prevent this horrible disease and support those who are trying to overcome it.”

As women age, their risk of developing breast cancer increases. This is why it is so crucial for all women to take an active role in preventing this disease by seeking mammograms and checkups with their doctors annually. The Susan G. Komen foundation is not only dedicated to researching the disease to find a cure, but also helping women understand the benefits of being screened.
